LOW OIL WARNING SYSTEM: AN EXPLANATION:
Your Boliy Pro3600si possesses a low oil detection system to stop engine from running anytime insufficient oil levels are detected in crankcase. System functions in two ways: 1)it can keep generator from starting if oil levels are low; 2)it will shut engine down during operation should oil levels dip below predetermined limits.
HOW TO CHECK SYSTEM IF GENERATOR DOES NOT START:
If your generator quits running or will not start, here is quick way to determine if shut down system believes oil in crankcase has reached dangerously low level:
A)Turn generator engine switch ON, and pull recoil start. Watch low oil warning lamp in control panel. If lamp flickers as recoil start is pulled, sensor believes oil levels are insufficient.
ENGINE OIL LEVELS:
B)Remember that if engine oil is low, your Boliy generator will not operate. To check oil levels, open oil filler tube(located inside compartment beneath generator outlet panel); to be at full capacity, oil should extend halfway up filler tube threads. If it does not, add oil and try starting generator.
CAREFUL: not to overfill tube. Overfilling WILL NOT help generator operate if warning system concludes that oil levels are insufficient. Excessive amounts of engine oil in crankcase can saturate air cleaner element and lead to overheated engine or inverter module during operation, a major pain to fix if it happens!
SUPPOSE YOU DISCOVER THAT OIL LEVELS ARE ADEQUATE?
If above steps have been followed, if oil levels appear to be adequate yet low oil warning lamp lights when you pull recoil start, then low oil sensor is defective!
DISABLING LOW OIL SENSOR:
If low oil sensor is defective, it must be deactivated to allow generator to run. Here is how to do it:
C)Look for BLACK wire (see below photographs) entering engine block above oil filler tube. Do not disconnect wire at block!
D)Trace black wire to connection point(where it mates with secondary wire) in direction opposite of block, and separate. This will allow generator to run.
REMEMBER: to be especially vigilant monitoring oil levels by eye anytime you use generator with low oil feature deactivated.
TIP: there is no easy fix for a malfunctioning low oil sensor. Replacing sensor involves opening up engine block. If sensor is malfunctioning, the simplest remedy is to operate generator with it disengaged!
IF: oil levels are fine and low oil shut down is functioning properly, yet your Boliy generator refuses to start, you will need to seek another cause. For additional information and assistance, see our how to section BOLIY GENERATOR BASIC TROUBLESHOOTING.
