HOW TO RESOURCE: Gapping The Boliy Pro3600Si Spark Plug |
Checking Boliy Spark Plug For Proper Generator Operation |
|
 |
It is a good idea to check the gap on a new spark plug for accuracy before installing. You should check spark plugs for proper gap prior to use even if a piece of equipment is brand new.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU CHANGE THE SPARK PLUG?
In most pieces of power equipment, a spark plug should be replaced after 100 hours of operation. Check operator's manual for specific recommendations.
When replacing plug, always use the type that your operator's manual recommends.
WHICH GAPPING TOOL IS BEST?
There are two common plug-gapping tools. One is shaped like a pear, the other like a wheel with thickness spokes around its outside edge. Both types are durable and inexpensive. Either will work. For best accuracy, we prefer the wheel type.
Thickness gauge should slide through gap in electrodes with slight to moderate friction.
HOW IMPORTANT IS A TORQUE WRENCH WHEN INSTALLING PLUG?
A professional mechanic should always torque parts to proper specifications. For home installation, a standard socket wrench is fine. Simply be sure that spark plug is tight inside cylinder.
Do not over-tighten. Today's aluminum cylinder heads damage easily!
