PORTABLE GENERATORS can be used for both home and business emergency power, recreation (camping, tailgating, picnicking, RV), and job sites. These units are known by many different names including electric generators, power generators, emergency generators, inverter generators (certain models), etc. Most important is that they provide portable power and are not permanently installed.
A STANDBY GENERATOR is a permanently installed unit that is connected to a home's electrical panel through an automatic transfer switch. The generator is automatically started by the automatic transfer switch when a loss of utility power is detected. This results in a nearly seamless transition to the backup generator power.
WINCO PTO GENERATORS (sometimes called tractor generators) do not have their own engine. They are instead powered by the PTO (power take off) of a tractor. These units are great for tractor owners.
