Sales & Installation Of Standby & Other Units

Serving Logan, Utah and other Northern Utah locations, T-Rex offers a variety of backup power products to local residents and their businesses. Be prepared for an emergency with the purchase and installation of residential emergency power, via a portable unit or a permanently-installed standby machine. You will also find lightweight inverter generators, ideal for recreational and RV use, PTO or tractor-powered models that create prime or backup electricity by relying on motors of host equipment, and industrial generators for the most active job sites.

Logan is known for its abundant year-round outdoor activities. Tree-covered mountains provide ideal backdrops for hunting, fishing, snow and water skiing, and snowmobiling. When planning a generator purchase, always consider both the elevation of the application, and the normal temperatures you can expect in the warmest months (usually June through August).

Considering altitude and temperature is important because maximum generator output occurs at or below 85 degrees Fahrenheit. For every additional 5 degrees Fahrenheit, generator output will be reduced approximately 1%. At 100 degrees Fahrenheit, expect to have dropped around 3% of your rated running and surge watts. Elevation increases will impact output even more directly. A generator drops 3 to 4 percent of its maximum watts (running and surge) for every 1000 feet above sea level at which a given application sits. Operating your generator in a mountainous region a mile above sea level can easily cost the unit 20% of its wattage.

You don't automatically need to purchase a larger generator if elevation and ambient temperatures will have an impact on operation. However, if you expect a generator to routinely run at or near full load, or if the model requires all of its surge capacity to start an electric motor, you should at least weigh the plusses and minuses of a larger machine before committing to a purchase.

For information concerning generator operation in a USFS campground, contact your local USFS office.
